Always a good catch
About Læsø Fiskeindustri
Founded in 1963, A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri was a result of an initiative made by a group of enterprising fishermen in response to the increased demand from European consumers for high quality fish and Norway lobsters. Since then A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri has developed into one of the largest producers of frozen Norway Lobsters in Europe, from which the majority is exported to Italy. In 2003 A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri also started production of products in brine for the same markets.
In 2006 the total turnover for the company was 375 mil. D/kr (approx. 50 mil euro)
Earlier the company was primarily involved in the processing and distribution of catches brought to Laeso. Today the company is very much depending on buying on auctions on the mainland, and in Sweden, together with catches landed on Laeso itself.
A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri is owned by approx. 250 shareholders from whom almost all have great relations to the company as former or current suppliers to Læsø Fiskeindustri or as current/former workers at Læsø Fiskeindustri.
The factory on Læsø has lately been modernised and extended with up to 1500 m2. In order to keep the factory on forehand with requirements for quality, labour environment etc.
We have since the foundation in 1963 established 4 factories in Denmark and 1 in Peterhead, Scotland. Today we have reached a total production of almost 3.000 tons yearly.
We see it as an important factor that you allways are prepared and ready to follow the market situation but at the same time that you are strong enough to keep the fundamental principles which have uphold the company through the years. We believe that this opinion has played a great factor in developing A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri into one of todays most respectable and largest producers og Norway lobsters and products in brine.
