The story of A.C. Perch’s Thehandel begins in Copenhagen, Denmark. Trade was blooming and in April 1835 Niels Brock Perch opened a small shop in Copenhagen. The shop was named ‘A.C. Perch’s Thehandel’ after his third-oldest son, Axel Christian Perch. The goal of the business was to sell the best tea from all over the world. The tea Shop in Copenhagen is the oldest tea shop of its kind in Denmark and Europe – and one of the oldest in the world.

The Perch family run the shop until 1894, after which the Hincheldey family took over. Today the company is run by the siblings, Stine Hincheldey Alwén and Christian Hincheldey, being the 5th generation of the Hincheldey family.

In 2002, on April 16th, marking the Tea store’s 167th birthday and the Danish Queen’s 62nd birthday, A.C. Perch’s Thehandel had the great honor of being appointed Royal Court Supplier.

We have more than 187 years of experience in the tea trade, and we provide a wide selection of well-known and special tea blends from China, Japan, Nepal, India and South Africa, among others. We offer more than 150 tea selections, where several are dedicated to the royal family, such as Queens Blend and Prince of Denmark, and it is also possible to compose one’s own special and personal blend.

A.C. Perch has succeeded in inventing biodegradable pyramid bags (tea bags). Each pyramid tea bag is packed in a plastic-free foil to ensure that the scent and aroma is not lost.
For some, tea is just a drink, for others tea is cultural, and for a growing part of the world’s population, tea is a lifestyle combined with a fascination.

Enjoying a cup of tea is an experience that stimulates the soul and collects your thoughts.
